Rismanto is a realism painter from Indonesia with a strong and unique subject style. His background as an animator, can be viewed as the reason for his highly detailed paintings. His works are beguiling and captivating, challenging the viewer to break down the symbolic meanings that are embedded within. Rismanto explores modes of transportation from traditional oxcarts to trucks and trains; as well as industrial machines to robots, all of which have rich symbolism and have strong allegorical interpretations. They can represent the proletariat mindset from which emerges the social values of the working class, and at the same time depict the intellectual society that thrives in the technological advances, all of which contributes to the progress of civilization.
