About the Artist

Supantono is an established artist from Indonesia with strong central characters in each of his paintings. He uses elements from the decorative ethnic paintings of Javanese culture to explore objects such as plants, animals, humans and more, and juxtaposes them effectively with abstract elements such as splashes and melted paint from the Western culture. His works are maximal; rich in details and filled with symbolism. His love for Javanese culture becomes a strong foundation and source of inspiration in his creative process, and this is what makes his style unique. Supantono has earned his name and fame by actively participating in various art exhibitions and competitions in Indonesia and abroad.
