This dance was created to commemorate the previous King, Sultan Hamengku Buwana IX, with a philosophical concept, which is to always keep promises, be strong, be fair, be tolerant, always do good deeds and have a social spirit. Bedhaya the Amurwabhumi is performed by nine female dancers and is 2.5 hours long, accompanied by a dramatic rhythm that depicted gentleness and elegance as part of a king's leadership and devotion to his people.
