| ‘Rice and Peace’ is a parody for the term ‘Rhyme in Peace’, an expression usually used to convey feelings of grief. The grief here is more about the rice itself. The artist takes the visual of stale rice that has started to get slimy, with a foamy texture. This work was created as a result of the artist's interpretation of food - which is symbolized by rice - as a basic human need that has become difficult to obtain for poor people who have been affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. The social and economic impact of the pandemic is concerning, and it has the potential to increase crime rates. Food should give strength and life, not be a poison that destroys life. We must work hand in hand so that the rice does not go stale.
