Bibek kalyan Roy is an abstract expressionism painter from Basirhat, a border town near Kolkata, where India borders with Bangladesh. He had a simple and meagerly childhood. These growing up experiences shaped his emotions, thoughts and art process. Early on, he experimented with landscapes and, figurative and objective forms in different media like watercolor, wood carving, pencil, oil and acrylic. Since 2018 however, his paintings have been predominantly in abstract expressionism style. Anselm kiefer and his works have had a great influence on Bibek.
