I Made Sutarjaya is an Indonesian Expressionist painter who hails from the lush green rice terraces of Tabanan, Bali. In Balinese tradition, 'I' means man and 'Made' means the second child of the family.I Made was inspired by the legendary Indonesian painter Tino Sidin's painting show on television in the 1980s. Following this, he started doodling on walls and floors. His style though evolved from his love of painting on the floor to get a more "accidental" effect. He has a unique methodology and most of his creative ideas and storylines come from his childhood memories and daily life in Bali, especially from his frequent visits to the temples and from watching the old traditional Balinese dance forms of Barong and Legong.
His favourite painters are Antonio Blanco, Willem Hofker and Le Mayeur.
