About the Artist:
Irwan Sukendra is a senior realist painter and sketcher who transforms live scenes into art with his skillful hands. He is renowned in Indonesia for his spot sketching works at cultural events like traditional dance and shadow puppet theatre. To breathe life and emotion into his drawings, he meticulously studied the history and aesthetics of Javanese dance and puppet shows. Irwan also has to his credit, paintings capturing the beautiful landscapes and people of Indonesia. His works are minimalistic and yet the thorough detailing lends to a fascinating narrative.
