J Senthil Kumar is an Indian artist who started his artistic journey in his father’s billboard studio. Here he was taught the techniques of creating realistic paintings for billboards at a very young age. He slowly progressed to more complex subjects taking inspirations from the leather puppets and mythological subjects that he greatly admired.
Since 2008 he was greatly affected by the socio-political changes in the world, including industrialisation and globalisation. These became a major theme in his works. He rather focused on celebrating these changes in tradition, culture, religion and technology of this popular society. He was also inspired by life experiences. The amalgamation of all these different but interconnected themes was possible in surrealism as a style.
Senthil has also created wall paintings, wall relief murals and sculptures in commercial buildings and public places like Shimoga smart city, Ranchi-indian coal mines, N.AL and H.A.L, Bangalore.
