In quest of an identity, Nayak has progressed from miniature paintings to the realm of modern art. But his style is still a happy marriage of traditional and modern. The characteristic aspects of his paintings are Indian folk motifs and rituals, conventional costumes and vivid facial features of his characters. What sets him apart though is his modernist strokes and use of bold colours to depict ancient cultural concepts. Reminiscence has become a salient thread in all his works. His paintings are not drawn directly from nature, but from memory that is reshaped by imagination typical of surrealism works.
Deep impressions of the folk culture of coastal Karnataka during Praksh’s growing up years, is reflected in his latest series of paintings entitled "Goddess".
Nayak exhibited his works in several shows, solo and group in Karnataka, New Delhi and Singapore. Currently the artist lives and works in Bangalore.
