Sabar Jambul is a self-taught Indonesian contemporary figurative artist. His creative stimulus has predominantly been children and their world of innocence, simplicity and purity. Sabar illustrates the many facets of childhood and growing up in his works. While he celebrates the joys of childhood in considerable number of paintings, he also delves deep into the tribulations of growing up in difficult circumstances in certain others. Sabar’s works lay emphasis on the attitude and perspectives of children, how they react to situations and environments, both positive and negative.
