Santhosh D. Andrade is an Indian contemporary artist. In his early days, he strongly reacted against pseudo-modernism and provincial sentimentality. There appeared a new impulse, revived from the dead ashes, the need for a renewed and profound lyrical conception of the age-old folk realism. Folk Art gave him a new turn and he found his inner self pushing his mind towards the inestimable. He became influenced by the traditional Madhubani decorative style.
All his paintings tell a story of the rustic folk. Delicate emotional figures adorn the canvas, while well defined elements like trees and moving clouds create an unusual three-dimensional effect. The most interesting part is the splashes of reds on the walls, in the air and on the dresses, which propels the entire canvas to a higher energy, sensitivity and oneness.
Fun Fact: Santhosh is a strong advocate for environmentalism. He is a partner of the Art Kanara Artist Group and is an executive member and former Secretary of Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi.
