The art of painting is an art of thinking.
Art captures the past, the present and the envisioned future. I lose myself in the moment and ultimately find myself stimulated by the creative process”
Soumya is an Indian Contemporary artist. He experiments with multiple media and explores a wide variety of subjects in his works. Candid and intimate at the same time, his works are critiques of growing consumerism and globalization. His artworks can be read as his resistance to the rapid societal and environmental changes. Many of soumya’s works question the replacement of old order and the subversion of indigenous systems and practices which are the unintended repercussions of modernization. With rampant use of deeper colors like brown, blue, black and red, he creates a sense of depth and soulfulness. His garden series, where in he has explored the ‘relief’ technique with paper, ply board etc., is very unique. He has beautifully interspersed relief technique with water color elements and recreated the gracefulness of nature.
