About The Artist
Soumya explores the individual in the post-colonial perspective. Upfront and personal, his works are critiques of growing consumerism and globalization. They can be read as a part of the growing resistance to the global economy and the power that multinational corporations have over our lives. He depicts the subversion of local corporate icons and highlights the fate of the endangered indigenous systems and their practitioners. He questions the rapid replacement of old order and produces visual evocations of such worries and concerns.
