Artwork Details

The Indonesian Genocide of 1965 consisted of large-scale killings which continued over many months, targeting communists, ethnic Chinese, peasants and alleged leftists. One of the most serious points of contention was the Communist Party’s (PKI) desire to establish a "fifth force" of armed peasants and workers in conjunction with the four branches of the regular armed forces. The artist feels for the farmers as they are the ones who supply our basic need - food! Indeed, the farmers are crucial for the society.
